The Florida tennis academy at Grand Cypress offers comprehensive clinics for players of all skill levels. From the first timer to those who play in amateur tournaments on a regular basis, you'll discover the intensive instruction by the certified USTPA and PTR Pros of our tennis academy in Florida will add a whole new level to your game.
Series I (designed for novices through advanced beginners). Learn to play the “game for a lifetime” at the Grand Cypress where you’ll be nurtured by our experienced staff of USPTA and PTR Pros, covering all the fundamentals of the game and be playing by the conclusion of your stay.
Series II (designed for returning or current “Tennis Enthusiasts”, intermediate through advanced) Experience the ultimate in personalized instruction and refinement with all aspects of your game including: footwork, stroke production, strategy and match play... raise the level of your game and PLAY IN THE ZONE.”
Both series include:
- Five hours of private or semi-private instruction

Let our director help you custom-design one of our flexible programs to meet your specific needs, whether you are planning a team-building event for employees, a fundraiser, an exclusive gathering for your VIP clients or a management retreat. Each program includes a warm welcome from our USPTA and PTR professionals in the covered grandstand, as well as cool drinks in the covered cabana. Based on the skill level and desires of the participants, your program may range anywhere from basic instruction to competitive play.
Bring out the best of your group with any of our wide array of innovative activities, including:
- Round Robin Tennis Tournament - (two to four hours, six persons minimum) A fun tournament event which provides participants with a relaxed atmosphere in which to meet and play tennis with many different people in a relatively short period of time. Includes court fees, towels and our professional staff of USPTA and PTR certified pros to set up and direct the event
- Group VIP Clinic - Specifically designed to give your executives and their spouses an opportunity to "brush up" on their game a day or two before or the day of the special event
- Davis Cup Team Tennis Event - (two to four hours, eight persons minimum) A super event for all level players! The US vs Australia, France vs Great Britain! Team spirit prevails! Includes set up, court fees, towels and USPTA and PTR professionals to direct the event (team T-shirts available for additional fee)
- Tennis Baseball - (one to two hours, six persons minimum) Whether you are a tennis enthusiast or have never held a racquet before in your life, Tennis Baseball is great fun. Participants are divided into teams where they will create their own team name and cheer. A great team-building event for everyone
- Tennis Jai Alai - (one to four hours, eight persons minimum) Think of this as tennis scored on a Jai Alai system: two out of three points win a game, seven games win a match, with continued rotation and switching of partners. This is an exciting event for all involved. Players enjoy the heated competition while spectators enjoy wagering on the play and bidding at the auction with their "fun money"
- Double Play - Your participants are sure to enjoy this program, which includes a fun round robin mixer and their choice of instruction to refine their game or a massage to relax at our spa afterward. With our Triple Play option, players are able to indulge in all three.

Group instruction is also available for those on a team getaway. Learn to work with one another in different settings, understand what drives your fellow teammates, to help create a stronger-than-ever team. One of our experienced USPTA and PTR Pros will be assigned to work exclusively with your family or team to achieve your goals. Our packages are designed so you can play as much tennis as you like depending upon your interests and schedule. The Academy Instructional Package is based on double occupancy at our family tennis resort, and includes the following per room, per night for both guests:
- Play time ranging from two to five plus hours daily, including instruction, ball machine use and match play - it's up to you.
- Luxurious Lake Buena Vista accommodations at Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress or The Villas of Grand Cypress
- One hour of private instruction each (two hours private instruction if one tennis player / room) or one and a half hours semi-private instruction together or two and a half hours of group instruction if traveling with a group, booking two or more rooms

- Open Court Time - Reserve "guaranteed" court time for recreational play for your group
- Court Time Plus – Round out the numbers of your chosen activity with additional Grand Cypress tennis professionals - or guarantee members of your group a game, clinic or lesson during your group's open court time.
- Name Pro - Pick a name pro of your choice and make for a very impressive morning or afternoon of tennis. Choose from tennis greats Stan Smith, Fred Stolle, Tony Trabert, Tom Gullickson, Bob Lutz, Tracy Austin, Jeanne Evert, Evonne Goolagong, etc.

"This is a terrific resort and a great tennis program, if you like individualized instruction more than the mass approach. After about ten lengthy visits over the last fifteen years, my game is much improved and Lynn, the head pro, has become a good friend. She is the reason that my family and I keep coming back to Orlando. It's not Disney World, it's Lynn's eagle eye: she fixes my game after it slips for a year back in Ohio.
Clinics are available twice a day, and since this is a golf resort, you usually get the pro to yourself or with a couple of other guests.
